Grindle Pictures

I love writing! I write about what's going on with my husband and I, daily life nannying, and different photography sessions I have! From family photography to couples photography to kids photography, I love documenting it all.

DeAtley Wedding

I want to share about my truly lovely experience photographing this wedding! Meet Kylie and Nathan DeAtley. Their wedding was located at Nathan’s parents beautiful backyard in Redmond, WA. I met them earlier that week to see the backyard and run through the timeline of the day. When I arrived I was amazed by the rich layers of green with tall trees and ferns blanketing the ground. Once I saw the yard I couldn’t wait for the wedding the following Saturday!

The day of the wedding started out rainy, but this created the most magical light and the greens were all dewy and vibrant in color. Photographing this wedding was a dream come true. The couple was kind and intentional, the scenery was magical, and I was able to capture so many precious moments that day.

One truly beautiful moment was during the ceremony. Instead of having a bridal party, they chose to have Nathan’s three sons stand with them. During the ceremony they used unity sand to symbolize their family coming together. Each member of the family had a jar of vibrant sand that they all mixed together creating a beautiful array of color. It was a beautiful visual and celebration of their family coming together.

I got a little teary when Kylie shared her written vows to Nathan and then proceeded to have vows to each of the sons. Her words were so encouraging as she named their unique qualities and her great love for each of them. It was so sweet to observe this family together and the way they were so happy to celebrate this day together.

I also got teary eyed during the reception when I observed the dances. Seeing the father/daughter dance and the mother/son dance I got emotional. Being pregnant it made me think about how I’m going to be a mom and Trevor is going to be a dad. I can’t to love our baby and affirm them in their value and love them for who they are. Seeing these genuine moments just made me excited to be a parent.

This wedding day will always hold a special place in my memory. I’m thankful for the job I have. Photographing weddings allows me to meet people, connect with people and hear their stories and observe their love. I want to take note of these beautiful moments and let it grow my love for people and thankfulness for what I have!
