Grindle Pictures

I love writing! I write about what's going on with my husband and I, daily life nannying, and different photography sessions I have! From family photography to couples photography to kids photography, I love documenting it all.

The First Look.

ne of my favorite moments to photograph on a wedding day is the first look. This moment stirs up so much emotion in me as I watch the bride tear up or take a deep breath in anticipation. I see the groom waiting with a thoughtful look. I love when the bride surprises the groom and he gets to take in her beauty and embrace her happily. It is such an intimate moment and so beautiful to document though the means of photography.

I think photographing these moments stirs up so much emotion in me because it brings me back to my husband and I’s first look. We have been married for less than a year so the memory is still very vivid and detailed. I remember being so nervous and excited as I approached him with his back turned. I still remember how giddy I felt! I still remember the tears of joy that rolled down our cheeks as we embraced and took in the moment. We were getting married!!!

I think having a first look scheduled for your wedding day is so essential. It allows for the photographer to document the raw emotion of that day and capture that sweet intimate moment between the bride and the groom. My favorite pictures from my wedding are all from that moment. We had ours in a conservatory and it was breathtaking! I would recommend that all couples consider having a “first look” moment and schedule it in a place meaningful to them. Wedding days are so busy with everything scheduled out and people always around. Leave yourself a moment like this to be together, to take in the moment and express your love to one another. I’m so incredibly thankful that my job allows me to photograph these beautiful moments for couples to enjoy for years to come.

Meet Joel and Cheri = cutest couple ever!

Meet Joel and Cheri = cutest couple ever!

Shortly after getting married myself I photographed this first look for Joel and Cheri. The memory of my first look was still so fresh that when I saw their reaction to each other and it brought tears to my eyes! I took so many pictures because I didn’t want to miss a second of this moment.

While Joel’s back was turned as Cheri approached his right arm. As she approached you could tell Joel was fighting back tears. When he saw her they embraced and cried tears of joy together. I’ll never forget how they just held each other and kept repeating “I’m so lucky” over and over to each other. Just typing this now is causing me to tear up at the memory. Oh my heart! I can’t wait to share more tearful moments with couples as I try to hold it together and photograph every second. This is why I do what I do. It breathes life into my soul to witness such tender and beautiful moments. I can’t wait to see what the 2018 wedding season will hold!
