Grindle Pictures

I love writing! I write about what's going on with my husband and I, daily life nannying, and different photography sessions I have! From family photography to couples photography to kids photography, I love documenting it all.

Pike Place Market

Before moving to Seattle I loved going to the local farmers market on a Saturday morning in Champaign, IL. This is where I would meet up with friends, buy fresh produce and exlpore to see what was new in the market. I loved seeing what was new every week and talking with the vendors. It was fun to ask questions and hear their stories. Going to the farmers market became a ritual with friends that I always looked forward to. I'm drawn to the culture of famers markets. People are sharing a craft or something that they’re passionate about and a variety of ages come to exlpore and enjoy.

I couldn’t wait to regularly visit Pike Place after moving to Seattle. Our apartment convienently has a bus stop right outside that will go straight to the market. I’ve visited several times before moving, but was never there for an extensive time. I couldn’t wait to go and explore! After living here for 3 months I’m happy to say I finally made it.

I went on a sunny day to meet my friend Kate. I had a short walk after my bus stop and walked down to Pike street. I came to the edge of the market and took in the beautiful view. From where I was standing I could see the mountains illuminated by sunshine and the view of the pier and Ferris wheel. This view was breath taking and I immediately got my camera out. In this moment I was so happy! I had the sun on my face and a lovely view in front of me with my camera in hand. I love the moments where I can stop and appreciate the moment I’m in. I felt greatful and thankful to be in Seattle.

After taking a million pictures I turned to meet Kate at the entrance. Along the way I started to get giddy as I took in the vivid colors and savory smells. Kate and I probably spent less than an hour there and only saw a small portion of the market. Kate was on the hunt for a winter bouquet. It was so fun to see the variety of flowers and creativity put into every bouquet. I had so much fun documenting the people and products I took in at the market. I love exploring places with a camera. It allows me to tell a story and share with people how I view the world. Photography has enabled me to pause in a moment and take in the beauty. I love that through my job I can learn to be observant and grateful for the present moment.
